Health Services
Administration (HSA) masters program
The Governor
Scott M. Matheson Center for Health Care Studies administers this
program, which was approved by the State Board of Regents in 1984.
Its purpose is to prepare graduates from a variety of disciplines
to better apply the skills of their discipline to the health care
delivery system. The program provides a broad understanding of the
health care system as well as depth in a related discipline.
It is open only to students concurrently enrolled in an affiliated
master's level program, and normally requires half a year of academic
work beyond that expected for the affiliated degree. Students successfully
completing both programs are awarded a dual credential: for example,
the diploma and transcript for an MBA/HSA student reads "Master
of Business Administration/Health Services Administration."
The affiliated degrees are in the departments of Anthropology,
Business (MBA), Economics,
Health Education,
Medical Informatics,
Nursing, Pharmacy,
Political Science (MPA),
Family and Preventive Medicine
(MSPH, MPH), and Social Work.
